Cottonwood Corner is fun even in the rain! The kids kept on eye on Riverton Creek, watching it rise and speed-up throughout the day, past the flow-meter installed by riparian ecologists trying to gain a better understanding of the creek to support downstream efforts to daylight it before it empties into the Duwamish River on its journey towards emptying out in Elliot Bay.
Squad focused on weeding the numerous tiny seedling germinating in the wood chips from the extensive seed spread that occurred during the COVID pause in work parties. Fortunately we caught most of them very small when they are easy to eradicate. A small patch of tansy was removed before it could spread and of course mulch was spread. The Green Tukwila Partnership continues to grow and thrive, we look forward to returning!
